Another week is in the book.
I got in 17 miles just like last week. That was five 3mile jog/walk days and one 2mile walk when my knee was out.
The Carolina heat is building. I love Summer heat, but it does make exercise more demanding. In spite of that, my effort as measured by heart rate is improving a little after just 5 weeks. That is encouraging. Today I found my mind wandering to things other than my discomfort. That is good, made me think of hero H.D Thoreau, "An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day".
As a rule, muscles improve quickly and cardio takes much, much longer. My old leg muscles are not adjusting as quickly as I would have thought. My legs are still sore and stiff after 5 weeks. Jogging causes slight discomfort bordering on pain when I start out. By now I should be moving freely, but I guess that comes slower for a geezer like me. It will come.
