April is now history. The hardest part has been getting out the door. I started with embarrassing results and finished with embarrassing results. Still, it is a start.

Once I got on the roads, had my Garmin 220 watch. All results are from that. It is accurate enough for training purposes.
The glaring problem is the high average heart rate. Ideally, at this point I would like to be around 130 for an AHR. That has not been possible as I am out of shape and even typing raises my rate. Also, my routes are steep hills, note the elevation gain. I have run marathons with less total gain than these 3 mile runs. I walk up the hills, but once my heart rate climbs, it does not fall. That lack of instant recovery also is an indicator of my poor cardio function.
I am encouraged. In 12 months, I will be lining up with peers for the starting gun.
