This is a cloudy cold day which is good for bird watching. All days are good for watching your birds. I have had about 20 different types out here in the last hour.
For good bird watching, make your yard bird friendly by putting in a few bird-friendly plants and adding some water.
Here is a good plant.
It draws the birds and is easy to grow.
Pyracantha is evergreen and has thorns to protect the birds. The sleep in it and also eat it. It grows fast. I have a few, prefer the ones with red berries, but have some with orange berries.
My sparrows are in. I have 3 types that are always about in Winter, Chipping, Song, and White-throated. The prefer white millet. The Song Sparrows are my cleanest birds, constantly talking a bath no matter the temp.
Here are two different Pine Warblers, one has much more yellow, almost looks like a different type bird.
Here is one of my Hooters (Tufted Titmouse).
All photos today were taken with the same lens. Some are 60 foot off and some just 6 foot away. It is an Olympus 300mm. It is on my small 4/3 camera so think 600mm. All are hand held. Hands tend to shake once you are past 70, but the fun remains. I think this to be a very good lens. At 60 foot it picked up the Song Sparrow's reflection in the water.
