Above is a free
flower. Over the past several years I
suspect I have spent around a million dollars a year on plants. I have more things now than I want to care
for, but I keep finding interesting things that I really need. Living under big trees, that means mostly
shade things, but many like the Lillie above, learn to do deal with that.
Many of my favorite plants
arrived here free. Yea, Mother Nature
gives me an abundance of stuff, but the ones I am talking about were given to
me by friends. That seems to make them
more special than if I bought them.
The flower above is a gift
from a few years back a friend gave me to liven up my garden at night. It is a MOON LILLIE, and catches more light
at night because it is large and white.
Each year it spreads a little. At
first there were three plants, but now there are several, and they are quite spectacular.
Plus, they were FREE
!!
Maybe the price I paid for
them was being a friend, if so I surely got my money’s worth.
Many of the things in my
yard came to me as extras or cuttings someone dropped by. I like that.
Free plants are special because they are given to share a little “happy”.
I tried to post a batch of new photos, but messed it up and they went in to the BIRD album. You can click on that at the upper left and seek them out if you are interested.
